Honoring your Ancestors ~ Three Sacred Days

It’s the time of the year when the Earth celebrates the sanctity and sacredness of life and death. Samhain, Celtic New Year, Dias de los Muertos, Halloween. This time of year is known by many names.

It is the time in Nature when the leaves all but fallen onto the ground (especially if you live in the Eastern side of the USA). Fall colors abound! Leaves warm us with autumnal colors and Nature whispers to us that it is time to release. The time of death approaches. Death is part of the natural cycle of rebirth. The leaves must fall to create the compost for the fertile soil needed to generate new life in the Spring.

We are part of this natural cycle. We are born, we grow, live, retire and pass on to the Other Side. For generations, cultures have honored their Ancestors.

How you can honor your Ancestors. Find your favorite pictures or gather their old items. Pick things they loved. Make an altar to honor who they were and what they meant to you. Light candles over the three sacred holidays:  Halloween, All Soul’s Day and All Saints Day (October 31, November 1, and November 2). As you do, you align with the parting of The Veils. The light welcomes your dearly departed in to partake of presence and celebrate your life. You are the One they have prayed for.
