The Capricorn New Moon arrives one day after Winter Solstice bringing the spirit of Christmas to town. The three days after a Solstice are the most powerful time of the celebration. The Capricorn lunation embodies the “12 Days of Christmas” – the time between the birth of the Magi and the arrival of the Three Kings at the Epiphany. Each of these 12 days celebrates an Apostle saint but in more esoteric circles, the 12 days can also celebrate the 12 Zodiac constellations that our Sun passes through. The 12 days is a sacred time to celebrate the unfolding cosmic Great Mystery Play that gives meaning to our lives.
The Capricorn New Moon is the 3rd Quarter phase of the 2022 Zodiac Year. This phase offers you a powerful time to reflect on what has transpired since April 2022 and release what no longer serves you. This phase last three months of the Winter season taking you to Spring Equinox and the New Moon in Aries in March 2023. Appearing after the Full Moon of satiation, the 3rd Quarter phase directs your focus to the wounds that are outside yourself.
- Your personal experiences translate to others’ wounding around you. Are others experiencing the same pains as you? How can you help them based on your own self-healing work?
- Reflect on how your leadership has developed this year. Have you taken the lead so that your skills could contribute in a positive manner? Have you allowed others to take the lead while you support them to be their best?
Saturn is the ruling planet of Capricorn and brings forth the power of the New Aquarian Age that will be rebirthed when Pluto enters Aquarius. In 2023, Pluto enters the sign of Aquarius for a brief stint and will fully commit to Aquarius in 2024. Saturn’s message now is to take care of the future by focusing on the children of today. The children are the future adults of tomorrow. You have a responsibility to allow children to be children and to enjoy, play, and feel at ease with life on Earth. Become more aware of what the children around are experiencing and dealing with on an emotional level. How can you ensure that the children in your family, your neighborhood, and your community have what they need to mature into well-rounded adults who care about others and the world?
Make me an Instrument of Peace
The South Node receives a “Finger of God” as the last empowerment before changing signs in April 2023. Mars, the ancient ruler of Scorpio, and Chiron, the Wounded Healer, form a double Quincunx to the South Node at 12 degrees. The midpoint between Chiron and Mars is the North Node in Taurus. This alignment proclaims very ancient energy is being transmitted into our world. Chiron reenacts the 2022 Zodiac degree of “A flock of wild geese” bringing back the power of leading together as a group of human beings. Spiritual liberation is available now! Mars tells you how at 10 degrees Gemini. Mars announces that an aware person can set the energy of success every day. The South Node says that nothing you encounter is beyond your ability to handle it. The key to stabilizing this frequency of liberation is the awareness that the desire to be of service is the best choice you can make daily. The song, “Make me an instrument of your peace” is a great daily mantra prayer to be utilized by the Divine for the highest good.

Mercury goes RETROgrade!
Earth sign Mercury goes into retrograde motion during the Capricorn lunation. On December 29, 2022, Mercury stations retrograde at 24 degrees Capricorn. His backward sojourn commences January 18, 2022, at 8 degrees Capricorn. It’s interesting that Mercury and Mars are following the same degree path: 24 to 8 degrees.
Mercury is helping you deal with your public success as an adult. He will take you on a journey that leads you to understand that your worldly success is dependent only on your spiritual attunement to your Soul’s desires to be on Earth at this pivotal time in history. If your focus is on more alignment with how you show up in the world with purpose and passion, your character is what you need to develop. - Have integrity with your word.
- Do not make assumptions.
- Do not take anything personally.

Capricorn = The Devil & The World
The Devil and The World are the Major Arcana in the Tarot that represent the energy of Capricorn and its ruler, Saturn. The Devil Card is the energy of the material world out of balance. This inverted world is caused by addiction and an unconscious binding to one’s lower nature. As I am typing the “Devil Card” my fingers keep typing “Deveil”. To me, this subconscious understanding is that this card is about keeping the Veil of Knowledge hidden – or deveiling one’s awareness of self, so as to control them.
The World Card is the card representing the culmination of the Soul’s journey through the Major Arcana of the Tarot. It is the last card showing the Goddess dancing in the center of her universe. The four Royal Watchers: Aquarius, Taurus, Leo, and Scorpio are all in balance as she finds herself in the center, free and liberated from the confines of the Devil card. This is the graduation of one’s transformation from the lower nature of the ego (separated self) to the enlightened higher nature of the Soul.
